Anne Black Statement on creation and supply of ceramics
Making ceramics create emissions. Therefore we put sustainable thinking at the center of everything we do.
We work with one factory only, where we can control the processes under which our products are being made and our studio based approach to production means it is all labour based. This create more jobs and less pollution.
Our ambition is to become a carbon neutral company and at present we achieve this, by lowering our energy usage and by off-setting all our CO2 emissions, through the planting of trees and investment in renewable energy projects.
We are aware that ultimately the goal is to base the production on 100% renewable energy and until these systems are in place, then we continue to invest in energy projects in order to facilitate that change

Anne Black social impact
We create increased opportunity for women in Vietnam.
Since 2005 we have developed and managed our own factory in Vietnam together with Danish development organisation Danida and the Vietnamese Hang family. The production is located in the Bat Trang area, known for its ceramic production. Together with the Hang family, who has been making ceramics in 7 generations, we have set-up a production, that matches international labour standards, with a particular focus on creating increased opportunity for Vietnamese women.

Clean and safe working environment
Our formula is Danish design combined with craftsmanship, clean and safe working environments, insurances, health programmes and increased economic opportunity. We call it sustainable social impact.

Making jobs
Making objects by hand is slower compared to industrialised approaches but it has a positive impact and create jobs and development for the artisans we employ.

Quality materials and craftsmanship
We use a studio based approach to production. This means our products are 100% hand made. We apply various traditional craftsmanship techniques such as hand throwing, hand painting and modelling by hand. Through the usage of quality materials, enduring aesthetics and craftsmanship, we aim to create a more sustainable approach to products and production.
